DJ. GUPZ
Born and bred in Kenya, G has been performing since the age of 7 when he was introduced to the tabla by his father Amrik Singh Saund. Getting to it inspired G to pursue his dream to become Kenya’s most talked about African-born Punjabi Musician in the past couple of years.
Greatly inspired, G began gaining first hand experience performing initially as a Percussionist. G's now a full fledged singer and music composer is working on his debut album.
Having heard his vocals, Dad Amrik asked him to collaborate on the track nakhra Punjaban kudian Da on his debut album in 2003. The track was No 1 that year hence brought them the well known kisima Award for the best Bhangra Artiste of the Year 2004 and 2005.
In 2003, Gupz became part of East Fm, Kenya’s leading Asian radio station in Africa set up to showcase Great entertainment at prime time on 'THE RUSH' From 4 - 7 Pm every weekday and SPICE ENTERTAINMENT every Friday night between 10pm and 1am spinning the hottest tracks on air..
Gupz is not only well known in East Africa but his talent is recognized as far as the Democratic Republic of Congo and Australia. He has also featured on a number of commercial cross-over singles including ‘WEMA’ with Kevin Wyre of Necessary Noize and ‘SUBHA’ with local ace Eric Wainania.
