What is it that makes him different from the rest in his genre? To start with his style of rapping heavily borrowing from the spoken word has no other to match or compete with in the Kenyan music arena. The energy he displays on stage can only be described as Marvelous and if that is not enough, the witty rhymes in his compositions makes the hardest ears soft to listen to his messages which are full of symbolism, that is what has made Juliani the most sought after Gospel entertainer in 2009. To elaborate this special nature, during a WAPI concert in 2009 there was a temporary power outage at the British High Commissioners residence while other artistes backed off from the stage, Juliani rose up and with a lot of grace he recited rhymes that made the crowd forget the small hitch. Juliani worked up the crowd without a backup band or backing track on CD.
Fairly new in the Kenyan music scene Juliani was born and brought up in the Eastlands side of the Nairobi city in Dandora Estate which is associated with big rap stars mostly from a group called Mau Mau which combines with a similar one from Mombasa called Ukooflani to form Ukoo flani Mau Mau crew. Around 2000 Like he associated with some members of the Mau mau and discovered he could rap and some time after he got saved he changed from secular to Gospel rap and started working on his first single Jesusnosis.
While working on a collabo with Astar at Kijiji records, the producer seemed to have liked what Juliani delivered and he offered to produce Juliani's second single "Pendo Kweli".
Consequently those events were just the start of along journey which judging from his potential, Juliani has not even gotten himself half way. Among the album he has produced includes Mtaa Mentality(2008), Pulpit Kwa Street Mixtape (2007), Hip Hope Compilation Albums (2006-2008),and he has also been featured in Dandora Burning (2006), Kilio Cha Haki (2001) .With other artistes he has been involved in other musician' recording's such as Kanjii's- Stories (2008),Rigga- The Awakening (2008), Astar’s-The Light (2007),and Wakenya pamoja (2008) Kenyan artists’ initiative (Response to 2008 Post-Election Violence).
Juliani’s efforts have not gone unnoticed; he is the first Kenyan to be signinged up by Gatwitch Records in the UK which produced his Mtaa mentality album in 2008 which propelled him to win the Kenyan Groove Award’s Hip hop category. He also won Talanta Award’s male artistes of the year.
He has performed in Tanzania , Southern Sudan and toured Europe in late 2009.
Apart from Music Juliani has taken part in various campaigns like World Vision Peace Tour (around Kenyan cities & towns), Stand Up Against Poverty (UN Millennium Campaign For MDG’s) Vina Na Maana (a campaign against Economic Partnership Agreements), and has been a facilitator at the NCA conscious music workshop, and also he been involved in the monthly WAPI (Words & Pictures) concerts
